The aim of the service is to offer advice and support to people over the age of 17 who experience social exclusion and are unable to access community resources. We work with service users for up to 6 months supporting them to engage within client led activities therefore encouraging the following:
o Live more fulfilled lives
o Become included in their community
o Access community resources and amenities
o Improve their health and wellbeing
o Become more independent
o Have access to information, advice and guidance
Here are just a few ways that volunteers support service users accessing the service:
• Increase service users confidence through supporting them to attend local community events and activities
• Accompany service users to pre-arranged meetings or groups which will aim to build confidence, continued engagement in services and reduce the feeling of isolation
• A walk every week in a local park
• Gathering information on local community groups, activities, service providers
It is important that activities encourage sustainability; we do not want to leave individuals in a worse situation by losing their support after 6 months and having nothing to replace it with.
